Handelabra Games Year In Review 2021

We know it doesn't seem real, but it is, in fact, going to be 2022 in just a few days. Handelabra Games had an incredible 2021, and in case you missed anything, we wanted to gather all the cool things in one place to look back on. Every one of our games save one (sorry Bottom of the 9th 😕) had significant updates or additions this year, and most of them have more to come in 2022.

Spirit Island

Our newest release had a very busy year! In April, the Branch & Claw expansion came to Spirit Island across all platforms. Then, over the summer, the game came to smartphones. But possibly the most exciting development for Spirit Island is what’s launching today - the Multiplayer Public Beta!

The public beta is now available on Steam, and is free for all owners of the game. Keep in mind since it's a beta, there are many features still to come, and there will be bugs. Part of participating is reporting and testing those bugs so that we can make multiplayer the best it can be before we launch it across all platforms.

Aeon’s End

You would be forgiven for thinking things were a bit rocky for Aeon’s End in 2021. Despite starting out strong with the release of the second expansion The Depths in May, the Kickstarter campaign for The New Age failed to fund over the summer. But neither we, nor the folks at Indie Game Studios were happy with that being the end of the story. We have always faced uphill battles on crowdfunding, and the simple truth is that the game is still performing well, even if it couldn’t muster the support on Kickstarter.

We have been hard at work on The New Age for months and we can’t wait to share it with you. Stay tuned in the new year for more previews, including Expedition Mode!

One Deck Dungeon

While the last new content update for One Deck Dungeon was in 2020, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been improving all year! Leaving 2021, there are more ways to play One Deck Dungeon than ever before. Whether you want to use your gamepad on Steam (the support for which we added in May), or you want to kick back on the couch with your Switch (which we launched in August), you can now play One Deck Dungeon in more ways than any of our other games! Because in addition to the above, the game is also available on Google Play Pass if you prefer the subscription model.

Sentinels of the Multiverse

The game that started it all for us shows no signs of stopping now! 2021 saw the launch of Steam Workshop support bringing dozens of new decks into the digital game, including the Cauldron, a frequently requested set of fan-created expansions. What does the future hold for the Multiverse? Well as is so in style these days, it seems like an epic crossover event might be a good idea. But where on EARTH are we going to find a PRIME candidate for such a crossover? The world may never know…

One Deck Galaxy

2021 was a year of constant improvement to our existing games, but that means that one thing you don’t see on the above list is a new game. Luckily, that will not be the case in 2022. We’re thrilled to announce that we are continuing our relationship with Asmadi Games in the new year with a digital adaptation of One Deck Galaxy!

As you can see, 2021 turned out to be quite an eventful year for Handelabra Games, and 2022 is shaping up to be no different. We'll be taking some time off for the next couple of weeks, so please bear with us if you're trying to get in touch over the break. Happy New Year!
